Review: jOBS (2013)

jOBS

Not a good job!

Score: 4/10

The story of Steve Jobs was always going to be interesting thanks to the roller coaster ride his life was. Taking that into account the film was a total waste of opportunity. It could have had a perfect balance, with true elements of a thriller biopic and tensions, wherever required. Seemed like Joshua (director) had every right intention but couldn't really transform them on screen.

The acting from almost all parts looked pretentious, as if they all were in a bygone era play. Ashton himself was plastic at best, only raising his voice to compensate for the intensity Steve carried. The cinematography was the saving grace, but accompanied with a very conventional back ground score and writing, it was a tasteless sandwich. Nothing brought out any genuineness in the story telling. The Social Network did so much better even with the little resources it had, in terms of story line. The writing looked like it was another documentary on “The Secret” where the focus was so much on believing and staying motivated, only this one never looked like it believed in itself when it said the same.
