5 Instances When Rahul Dravid Lost His Cool

1. India vs England, Mumbai, March 2006 (Test Match)
Dravid's rare act of indescrition had been disclosed by his wife Vijeeta in an insightful article about the batting stalwart.
In all these years, Vijeeta says, Rahul has kept his cool but one time he too lost his temper.
Only once, I remember, he returned from a Test and said, "I got a bit angry today. I lost my temper. Shouldn't have done that." He wouldn't say more. Many months later, Viru [Sehwag] told me that he'd actually thrown a chair after a defeat to England in Mumbai. He'd thrown the chair, Viru said, not because the team had lost but because they had lost very badly.
India had lost that Test by 212 runs. Dravid who was the then captain had scores of 52 and nine.
2. 66th match: Mumbai Indians v Rajasthan Royals at Mumbai, May 15, 2013
Mumbai Indians all-rounder Kieron Pollard's over-the-top celebration to send off Rajasthan Royals batsman Shane Watson in an IPL match angered the visiting team's skipper Rahul Dravid.
Rahul Dravid said in post-match media conference:
One of the things that I find when you send off batsman after you have got him out is that it is an act of cowardice. That is my personal opinion. Batsman can never respond after you have got him out and you send him off. Saying something on the field is part and parcel of the game. Having a chat, a bit of banter while the game is on is fine but my personal opinion is that when you send a batsman off after you have got him out is an act of cowardice
3. India v Pakistan at Birmingham, Sep 19, 2004 (ICC Champions Trophy)
Dravid hit one through the covers against a slow ball from Shoaib and ran the first run quickly so that he may get the second as well. Dravid almost collided with Shoaib as the pacer tried to deliberately come in his way. When Dravid came back to the batting crease, Shoaib pointed out to watch his steps and the right-hander had to come down towards the pacer to answer him.
The two players came face to face and exchanged a few words before the umpires, Inzamam and Shoaib Malik stepped in and ensured it didn’t get ugly.

4. 56th match: Mumbai Indians v Rajasthan Royals at Mumbai, May 25, 2014
Mumbai Indians needed to chase down 190 in 14.3 overs and the scores were then tied. To surpass Rajasthan’s net run-rate and move into the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2014 playoffs, Mumbai needed a boundary off that one ball. Aditya Tare pulled off the unthinkable and smashed it over square-leg for a six.
What must have irked Dravid was the way the last few balls were bowled. With eight needed off two balls, Ambati Rayudu received a low full toss and he smashed a six over square-leg. And then, the same ball was repeated when all Faulkner had to do was avoid a boundary.
5. 75th match: Mumbai Indians v Rajasthan Royals at Kolkata, May 24, 2013
Rahul Dravid opened the batting and was looking forward to seal RR's position in the 2013 IPL finals, as it was the 2nd qualifier. In the 4th ball of the 3rd over of Mitchell, Dravid hit a boundary. While Mitchell was going back for the run up, he spoke something to Rahul as he went across him. Rahul didn't look so calm and seemingly asked him to be louder.
The commentators  assumed from the lip reading, that Mitchell might have said,"This was from the middle of the bat for a change!". And then again in the next delivery he hit another boundary, after which Rahul went up to Mitchell and said, "Excuse Me, What were you Saying?" Mitchell Johnson couldn't help smiling with his tail between his legs. (For the video: M75: RR vs MI – Match Highlights - ipl match centre - IPL Videos - IPLT20.com)
